Our latest project, Decksteppers beach café opened its doors recently and we popped in to have a peek and grab a coffee. We were very pleased to see the place packed and buzzing, customers enjoying their lunch while taking in the fantastic views on the balcony. The cakes and coffee were great and the food looked delicious – definitely worth a trip.
The place looked pretty good too. AHD were involved in the space planning and concept design of the café. We planned the interior space and bar to run efficiently and provided a package of ideas and recommendations for furniture, lighting and finishes which Decksteppers then implemented themselves. The result is a unique space which expresses their personality.
An eye-catching wall graphic inspired by surf illustrations brings colour and personality to the space, which will be illuminated by mini wall lights (yet to be installed). Bright scatter cushions add softness and pops of colour against a muted base palette of white, grey and timber for a warm rustic feel. A bleached timber floor adds to the laid back feel and a comfy linen bench sits around the perimeter of the room creating lots of space for large parties.
What was achieved stretched their modest budget and surpassed their expectations. We think it looks great and wish Donna, Sara and their team all the best for the future.
